" I'd say it was pure fate."

by Joanie

I would't say I was young and innocent. Just young and kinda musically illeterate. I didn,T know anything about what was going on in the music biz then. I would listen to the radio in the car, but that was pretty much all I knew of music. I used to listen to oldies but now that I had lost the tape a few years ago, I didn't bother anymore. I don't know, I guess I just wasn't into music then. But that changed. I just didn't know it would but if you ask me now, I could tell you how wonderful it's been.

I was thirteen years old. What people say is a lucky number. Being thirteen was fun. Still too young to drive but old enough to party. Right then I never would have thought my life would have turned out the way it did. What can I say, life is full of surprises!

It was summer and Mom decided to go on a trip  to Montreal. I was used to going there cause we would go like 3 times a year but it was always fun. My mother decided to go stay at her friend's house and since I had brought a friend with me, I was hanging with her. Anyway, there we were, Carolyn and I, walking on the most popular street of Montreal itself. It was nice to just walk all day because they had all these great stores and boutiques. You could not go to Montreal and not go on St-Catherine street! It was definitely something to see. We ended up going to the movies in this old looking theater. No special reason then, but if you ask me now, I'd say it was pure fate!

The movie had begun already when carolyn and I got in so we sat at the first place we spotted. The room was pretty full but two seets were empty right in the middle center. It was very dark and so I couldn't see much at all. I tried to get through without steping on anyone's feet or anything but as I was sitting, I spilled some of my pop on the person sitting next to me. I felt really bad and so I naturally apologized.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!"
"That's ok.", the person said. "Most of it fell on my seet and on the floor so I'm ok."
"oh, good. Again, really sorry!"
No problem. Hey, I know it's not the place to talk but I didn't catch your name?"
"I'm Joanie. What about you?"
"Taylor but people call me Tay. Nice to meet you."
I know what you're thinking now! But hey, I had no idea who Hanson were then. Like I said, I was practically musically illeterate!
"Yeah, you too." I said smiling to him. "We should watch the movie now."
I whispered to my friend Carolyn that this guy sitting beside me had talked to me. I personally thought he was really cute. I couldn't tell much of his features but what I could see of him I liked. My friend and I were giggling, thinking about the cute guy. Then she whipered to my ear:
"Hey, do you think the two other guys came with him?"
"Hmm, I don't know. The smallest one is just so cute!"
"I know!" she exclaimed and somebody tapped on her shoulder asking her to stop talking. We giggled.

In the middle of the movie, I was getting bored and so was Carolyn. I looked at the boy next to me. He was yawning. I started laughing in my breath when I saw the cutie sitting beside him sleeping. Carolyn and I decided to get out of there since it was so boring. I tapped on Taylor's shoulder.
"Hm, we are bored, this movie isn't good and I saw you yawning so, you wanna go hang some place else with us?"
"yeah, great idea! I'll meetyou guys out."
We left the theater and waited for Taylor to come out. He was followed by the two guys that had been sitting the other side of him. The smallest one was yawning and streching.
"Hey! These are my brothers, Zachary and Isaac."
"Nice to meet you!" I said nodding. "Well I'm Joanie and this is my friend Carolyn."
"Hi.", both Zac and Ike replied.
"So, what do you guys wanna do? Wanna go bowling? I think theres a cool place nearby."
"Sure! That sounds fun!"
