On Friday, July 2, 2001 I happened across a website where one of my poems was being used, not only without my permission, but the woman was claiming it as her work and also claiming copyright. Her site was filled with poems written by other people but which she was claiming to have written.
1) THAT IS ILLEGAL
2) IT IS MORALLY and ETHICALLY WRONG
Most people on the internet are more than willing to allow others to use their property. All over the web you will find all kinds of writings, graphics, programs, and all manner of things that are being generously shared by someone who has spent a lot of time and effort making their talent available to you. All of us are here sharing our gifts with you. Do not steal our work. It only takes seconds to request the use of something by e-mail. Please be considerate and ask permission and NEVER try to take credit for another person's work. Just think how you would feel if someone stole your thoughts, your emotions, your very soul.
