NEW SOUNDS NEW STYLES

NEW SOUNDS NEW STYLES was launched as a style magazine in 1981 and, although shortlived,  proved to be an exciting wechicle for Garrett´s experimental graphic style. Allowed a free hand, Garrett introduced a new format for the magazine,  using witty graphic puns and devices for the young style-conscious market.    -    ( STREET STYLE - BRITISH DESIGN IN THE 80S ) NEW SOUNDS NEW STYLES - The Malcolm Garret - designed ´STYLE´ magazine folded in 1984 after publishing 13 issues.  Began life as a poor copy of  THE FACE but discovered that the market wasn´t yet downmarket enough for full colour pull-out posters.    -      (A DECADE OF i-DEAS )
