| A Friend A friend is someone who Will always be honest and frank with you Someone who tells you what you need to hear Not just someone who flatters and treats you dear A friend is that person that you know To battle for you they would go For if someone tries to do you wrong They'll stand up for you and make it known That something or someone isn't right When unjustly at you they try to strike But, if you're wrong in their eyes They have the courage not to lie They will help you to evolve and grow They aren't afraid to tell you no Not just agree with all that you say They're someone who helps you along your way To be an improved version of who you were When they first met you and the lines were blurred But, now they are comfortable and fully understand They know how to give that helping hand All the while they let you be yourself They let you know that they're there and they're theirself No airs to put on for you to see That is the friend I hope to be Patrick Wayne Hollier Copyright 2000 Patrick Hollier |
