| Love Yourself No one can love you unless you do first Love yourself, for what this is worth I'm not sure why but, it happens each day Individuals seem to just through love away You can't receive or accept what you feel isn't deserved The thought that anyone could love you is so absurd The thought that someone could accept or embrace This monster that hides behind your face Unworthy of your own love and acceptance Why should you trust anothers affections You're so terrible that no one could possibly love This person so underserving, so you shove As foolish as this line of thinking is This is how many unnecessarily live Despising, hurting and hating who they are To the point of isolation, But, the door is ajar If you begin to allow yourself to love you Then soon others may enter into That zone where you used to hide all alone To feel safe and protected will be gone Patrick Wayne Hollier Copyright 2000 Patrick Hollier |
