Snail A snail moves across the sidewalk He creeps ever so slow But, deliberately he continues For a destination that only he knows If a human would take this much time He would forget where he were bound But, the snail continues on Headed for higher ground It seems to take forever As he slides along his way He moves along so slowly This journey could take all day Yet, I watch in fascination At his gumption and true grit As he stops for a moment to redirect Around a rock that he just hit He slides over, then eases around Then once more moves forward I think that I now see where he's bound It's for the roses in my flower bed Where he will be able to rest in shade That is cast from the sun He needs a place to just sit and rest Now that his race has been run |
