Sunflowers
Sunflowers shine so golden and bright
Their beauty truly a glorious site
They appear to reach up towards the sun
As though to grab it and be united as one
Their color is yellow with a golden hue
Kissed by the sun and the morning dew
Its stem so long and it stands so tall
It's nearly as high as the outside wall
It gently leans over and peers to the east
For morning is here therefore it cheats
Above other plants beginning to grow
Towards the sun it leans ever so slow
Higher and higher it reaches above
From a seed that received sunshine, water and love
A flower so pretty yet sturdy and enormous
Its seeds are eaten by many among us
With salt to taste and dried by the sun
It now will die its cycle is done
But, save several seeds for next years crop
So this wonderful flower next year will drop
Color of golden yellow in my garden to be
To bring joy and pleasure to others and me
