Bridgeton has over 2200 buildings listed as historical landmarks.


Dunellen became known as "Railroad Town" because it once contained a roundhouse of the Central Railroad of New Jersey.




A garvey is a flat-bottomed boat suitable for working in shallow creeks feeding into Barnegat Bay. A sneakbox is a small boat covered by wooden planks with a small opening that allows a hunter to lie almost flat and camouflage himself. Eagleswood is not shown on most maps. It lies on the Jersey Shore between Manahawkin and Tuckerton. The principal community is West Creek.


Given the color combination and typeface, I'm not sure how anyone traveling at 50 mph or better on Route 46 can see more of this sign than "Fairfield." The inscription says, "Fields of Dreams, Visions of Progress."




Over 150 minerals are found only in the Franklin area. Many are on display at the Franklin Mineral Museum.
