10,000 WAYS TO SAVE THE WORLD! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Think you can’t change the world? Think again. Who wants a world full of killing and hate and starvation and disease and despair? I mean, really? Share an idea or two, create your own version of universal goodwill. Inspire a united front of good intentions. Use our intellect, our youthful optimism, our vision to change the world. Cuz it needs changing. And it needs it today, it needs YOU today, as we all stand as one on the brink of threats nearly too big to not succeed… Please add your ideas and inspiration to this page and pass the message along. We have a lot of work ahead of us eh! |

21. Take the time out of your life to call or email that one person who needs it the most 22. Don’t take your health for granted 23. Don’t take your parents for granted. Don't be one of us who wish they hadn't. 24. Spend time on charity work, it helps those less fortunate than you, o’ most fortunate one 25. Don’t waste too much time in front of the TV, it sucks out your intelligence and gives you next-to nothing in return. Try living instead. The resolution's generally better anyways. 26. Learn a new language, a new instrument (taiko drum), a new job 27. Meet new folks wherever you go and develop friendships even over great distance 28. Be afraid (men, it's ok), but never let it stop you from doing anything. 29. Don’t let suburban blues get you down 30. Get out, see something new, take a dance class, try yoga, grab a partner and go running, learn rollerblading, take your dog for a walk, take your cat for a walk 31. Drop a coin into a vending machine and walk away without taking out your prize 32. Seek out alternative news sources 33. Read the poem "Self-Evident" by Ani Difranco and just sip it in… 34. See Michael Moore’s 2002 film, "Bowling for Columbine" 35. Support Indie music 36. Support your local mom&pop shop 37. Don’t DRIVE so much! Help take the toxious gas that’s choking us all to death out of the air, save a buck, save the ozone, save your health, Ride a Bike or Go for a Walk, it’s not that hard! 38. Realize that we are ALL ignorant in some way. Then realize that that includes you, too. Work on changing that. 39. Losing helps us appreciate winning. Failing is never bad. Not learning from it is. 40. Think of all the really dumb things governments do "on our behalf". Write a letter to try and change that. Silence just propagates the stupidity. |

1. Love unites us. Love crosses barriers of religion, race, culture, geography. If we could only find more of it... 2. Violence is NEVER the answer 3. Revenge is childish and those enacting revenge will never be fully satisfied. Of course, good-spirited revenge against your siblings is A-OK. :) 4. There is always a good guy and a bad guy, at least that’s what the movies tell us. Are we gonna keep living our lives according to a Hollywood script? 5. The "bad guys" are those who are "different," culturally, religiously, ethnically – DIVERSITY is hunted down and killed, along with these so-called enemies. 6. The MEDIA presents selectively to serve its own agenda and get ratings. For example, what happened to the people of Afghanistan after the U.S. turned its focus to Iraq? It skews our perspective of the world, slants our views of what ’s "good" and what ’s "bad," and devalues the lives of human beings (especially those who are not one of "us"). 7. Read more, read everything 8. Question everything, including your beliefs. 9. Live every day like you it is your last. Hug your family, your friends, your neighbors (cheesy on paper, works when put in action) 10. Always think of POSSIBILITY not EVENTUALITY 11. Never give in, and never just accept. 12. Laugh a lil, or a whole lot 13. Don't take yourself or others too seriously 14. Write down your ideas and share them with others. In other words, communicate, people! 15. Don’t waste your energy on hate 16. Be inspired or inspire someone else 17. Listen to LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of music! 18. TRAVEL!Not just for pleasure, but to take in a new culture, to learn something completely outside you and your own cultural views. Learn a lil of their language, their customs, don’t walk in there an ignorant fool with money to blow. 19. Money is NOT everything, nor does it a) make you laugh b) make you satisfied c) make you fall in love *22. Write a song, a poem, a letter to your distant friend. Keep in mind that friends and family will not always "just be there". 20. Treat your friends, your teachers, your students, your neighbors with respect |
