What to do when you're down

Find healthful ways to boost your emotional state when you're down. For example, go to the gym rather than get drunk or eat too much!

Admit to yourself you can't do everything. Acknowledge that trying harder might not be worth it in some instances. Contemplate the possibility of getting help in a few key areas.

We solve problems by identifying the cause and then removing it. When this is not possible, you needn’t despair; there are alternatives: bypass it or cope better with it.
I reserve the right of failure as fundamental; it allows clear-headed people with resilient souls to rebound and go further than they would otherwise.

Never use the word ‘failure’; use instead ‘temporary setback’ or ‘learning curve’.
