ETCetera
For me, the machine you see here started it all.  I acquired it from Chuck Dilts and Rich Cincotta, who at the time were the editors of the Journal of the Early Typewriter Collectors' Association, known as ETCetera.  It's a Blick Universal; the information I found about it and its maker, coupled with more information from the editors, led to my very first article in print, which appeared in the December 2001 issue.  The very next issue (March 2002) featured my first dedicated column, which is titled "Portables, ETCetera" and which has been running ever since.
After years of hard work, Chuck & Rich have decided to move on, and have turned the editorship over (as of January 2006) to the esteemed Richard Polt.  Richard is so well known he almost needs no introduction; he has the oldest, best typewriter site online, has written the prototypical model line dissertation article, and has a fabulous collection.  I've worked with him on many projects outside of ETCetera, and can tell you that he's friendly to all sorts of collectors, who own all sorts of machines no matter the geography or time.
"Portables, ETCetera," Will Davis and the magazine
Richard's stated mission for the magazine includes making sure that all kinds of collectors, and machines, are featured.  This means that you are sure to find something of interest in ETCetera.  If you're an "antique typewriter" fan, then you'll appreciate the odd, rare and unusual machines that have always graced its pages.  If you're a "portable typewriter" fan, then you'll be sure to find my column Portables, ETCetera of interest -- and it appears in every issue.  If you think, as do many others, that receiving an in-print quarterly magazine at your doorstep is an essential part of our hobby, then don't delay.  Follow the link below to get to Richard's home page for ETCetera.
