The Wellington British Railway Modellers Incorporated is a club whose members mostly model the railways of the United Kingdom. The club is based in Wellington, New Zealand.
The Wellington British Railway Modellers club was unofficially formed in 1980 when a group of modellers, modelling British railways in OO, met for an informal chat. From this beginning regular monthly meetings followed in members' homes. The club became an incorporated society in 1992, found its first clubrooms in Upper Hutt in July 1993 and the next clubrooms in May 1994. The former Ward 5 in the grounds of the Silverstream Park Christian Centre, which was previously the Silverstream Hospital in Upper Hutt was our base for over 11 years.
Our current clubrooms since December 2005 are at Grenada North and are leased from the Wellington City Council.
The majority of the club members model British outline in either OO or N, with a few modelling narrow gauge and other scales. Club meetings occur on every second Sunday afternoon. The club also holds an annual exhibtion, Railex.
The club maintains close contacts with other local model railway clubs, participating in other exhibitions and also receiving support for its own exhibition. The Marklin Model Railway Club has a web page here. Marklin Model Railway Club. Hutt Valley Model Railroaders don't have a web site I know of. WBRM Inc. is a member of the New Zealand Association of Model Railway Clubs, from whose home page other New Zealand clubs can be contacted.
The 2008 show was held at the NZ Kennel Club, Porirua.
The 2009 show is to be held in the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt.
