The Prevost Family | |||||||||||||||
The Prevost family of New France was headed by Marie-Olivier Manitouwich Sylvestre, a Canadian Native, and her husband Martin Prevost. Martin was born on January 4, 1611; in Montreuil-Sur-Le-Bois-de-Vincenne, France; on the outskirts of Paris; the son of Pierre Prevost and Charlotte Vien. He and Marie would have nine children before her death on September 10, 1665. Martin then married Marie D'Abancour, widow of Jean Jolliet, and died on January 27, 1691 in Batiscan. At the time of the 1666 census at Beauport, the household contained nine Members: Martin and his wife Marie, and four children from his first marriage: Louis, Jean, Jean-Baptiste and Therese, as well as stepdaughter Elisabeth Guillot from Marie's second marriage. They also had an Indentured Domestic, Marie Houarlin and an indentured labourer, Pierre Rouzillot. |
