There were two De Launay sisters who arrived as Filles A Marier: Anne and Jeanne; daughters of Louis De Launay and Marguerite Cazalede, from La Rochelle, Aunis, Charente-Maritime, France. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Anne De Launay (1636-1700) |

Anne De Launay was born on July 10, 1635 and baptized in the Calvinist Temple in La Rochelle. She arrived in the colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Pierre Arnaud Maillou Desmoulins. The wedding took place on October 23, 1661 at Ville De Quebec. Pierre was born about 1631 in St. Pierre de Brie-sous-Matha, Bours, Brie, France; the son of Jacques Maillou and Suzanne Arnaud. He and Anne would have eight children before his death on June 11, 1699 at Ville De Quebec. Anne followed on December 12, 1700. Joseph Maillou - Was born on April 25, 1663 at Ste-Famille. He became a stone mason and architect and died on December 26, 1702 in Ville De Quebec. Joseph first married Suzanne Richard with whom he had at least one child and then married Louise Achon. Noel Maillou - Was born on May 16, 1666 in Ville De Quebec and died on June 10, 1753 in Beauport. He married Louise Marcoux and the couple had seven children. Marie-Anne Maillou - Was born on November 29, 1670 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. She married Jean Dubois and the couple had three children. She later married Noel Vasseur. Jean-Baptiste Mailou - Was born on September 20, 1668 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. He married Marguerite Caron and had at least one child. Anne Maillou - Was born on November 29, 1671 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. Anne-Marie Maillou - Was born on June 07, 1673 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. Pierre Maillou - Was born on January 12, 1676 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. He married Marie-Charlotte Moreau and the couple had at least one child. Marie Maillou - Was born on July 30, 1679 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec. |

Jeanne De Launay was born about 1641 and arrived in the colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Master Gunsmith Jean Bault Delespinasse. The wedding took place on November 30, 1662 at Ville De Quebec. Jean was born about 1627 in St-Andre, Bourdeaux, Guyenne, France; the son of Jean Guyenne Delespinasse and Martine Bault. It is likely that the couple returned to France since there is no trace of them after the 1667 Census. |
