The Lemoyne Siblings
Four Lemoyne siblings took advantage of the scheme that provided  Filles A Marier:   or marriageable young women to the small colony of Quebec.  Two were sisters, Jeanne and Anne, and the other two were brothers who contracted to marry other eligible young ladies; Jacques to Mathurine Gaudet and Charles to Catherine Thierry

All were the children of Pierre Lemoyne and Judith Duchesne from St Jacques, Petitbourg, Rouen, Normandy, France; themselves early settlers.
Jeanne Lemoyne
(1630-1682)
Jeanne Lemoyne was born on April 24, 1630 at St Jacques, Petitbourg, Rouen, Normandy, France.  Though she arrived with her family, she was eligible for the Filles A Marier program since she had been born in France and was contracted to marry Jacques Leber  The wedding took place on January 07, 1658 in Montreal.

Jacques  was born in 1633 at  Pistre, Rouen, Normandy, France; the son of Robert Leber and Colette Cavalier, and was a merchant who made a fortune in the fur trade.  He and Jeanne would have five children before her death on November 08, 1682.  Jacques followed on November 16, 1706.

Louis Leber - Was born on October 24, 1659 in Montreal and died unknown.

Jeanne Leber - Was born on January 04, 1662 in Montreal.  She became a nun and recluse in a cell in a Convent in Montreal, dying there on October 03, 1714.

Jacques Leber - Was born on August 26, 1663 in Montreal and died unknown.

Jean-Vincent Leber - Was born on November 08, 1666 in Montreal and died as the result of an injury by the English at Laprairie on August 13, 1691.

Pierre Leber - Was born on August 11, 1669 in Montreal.  He became a great Religious Painter for Brother Francois Charron in Montreal, dying there on October 01, 1707.
Anne Lemoyne
(1638-1725)
Anne Lemoyne was born on July 26, 1638 at St Jacques, Petitbourg, Rouen, Normandy, France.  Though she arrived with her family, she was eligible for the Filles A Marier program since she had been born in France and was contracted to marry Michel Messier.  The wedding took place on February 25, 1658 in Montreal.

Michel was born on July 11, 1638 at St. Denis, Rouen, Normandy, France; the son of David Messier and Marguerite Bar.  He and Anne would have seven chidlren before her death on July 15, 1725 at Vercheres, Varennes, Quebec.  Michel followed on November 03, 1725.

Catherine Messier- Was born on July 11, 1659 in Montreal and died on March 15, 1703 in Vercheres.  She married Etienne Gentes and had at least two children.

Jeanne Messier - Was born on June 18, 1661 in Montreal and died on August 06, 1699 in Vercheres.  She married Ignace Hebert and had a daughter Marguerite.

Marie-Anne Messier - Was born on August 02, 1665 in Montreal and died unknown in Vercheres.  She married Jean Brodeur and the couple had six children.

Anne Messier - Was born on February 05, 1670 in Montreal and died on March 15, 1720 in Vercheres.  She married Gabriel Celles and the couple had four children.

Marguerite Messier - Was born on May 24, 1676 in Montreal and died unknown in Cap-St-Michel, Varennes, Vercheres, Quebec.  She married Pierre-Charles Lafleur and the couple had a daughter Marguerite.

Francois-Michel Messier
- Was born in 1679 in Montreal and died on June 06, 1751 in Vercheres.  He married Marie-Anne Amyot and the couple had two children.  She died in 1724 and he then married Jeanne Duval.  Widowed again on September 09, 1727 he later married Madeleine Lefebvre.

Rene Messier
- Was born on April 21, 1681 and died unknown in Vercheres.  He married Catherine Bissonnet and had at least one child.
