A Marriageable Young Girl

Madeleine Surget (1638-1697 )

Madeleine Surget  was born about 1638 at Soubise, Rochefort, Saintes, Saintonge, France; the daughter of Francois Surget and Marguerite Gravel.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Jean Clement Lapointe.  They were married September 28, 1659 in Ville De Quebec. Jean was born on July 15, 1629 in Nancy, Lorraine, Meurthe Moselle, France; the son of Jean Lapointe Sr. and Madeleine Martin.  He and Madeleine would have six children before his death on September 24, 1686 in La Prairie.  She followed on February 28, 1697 in L'Ange Gardien.

The Next Generation

Marc Lapointe- Was born about 1661 and died on April 04, 1687 in La Prairie. Marie Lapointe - Was born on May 29, 1662 in Chateau-Richer and died on November 11, 1723 in Ville De Quebec.  She married Francois Vezina and the couple had eleven children. Marguerite-Jacquette Lapointe - Was born on March 03, 1664 in Chateau-Richer and died on November 17, 1710 in La Prairie.  She married Philippe Lafleur and the couple had five children. Antoine Lapointe- Was born on December 29, 1665 and died unknown in L'Ange Gardien. Madeleine Lapointe - Was born on December 30, 1668 in L'Ange Gardien and died on February 11, 1760 in Montreal.  She married Charles Deneau and the couple had eleven children. Jean Lapointe - Was born on 1670 in L'Ange Gardien and died on August 05, 1680 in La Prairie.
