Marguerite Legardeur
(1608-Unknown)
Marguerite Legardeur was born about 1608 at Thury-Harcourt, Caen, Calvedos, France; the daughter of Rene Legardeur and Catherine De Corday, and sister of fellow settlers Charles and Pierre.  She married Jacques Leneuf about 1630 in France and the couple emigrated to Quebec, arriving on June 11, 1636.

Jacques was born on July 11, 1604 at Thury-Harcourt; the son of Mathieu Leneuf and Jeanne Marchand.  Though he began as a fur trader, he had an illustious career in Quebec, eventually becoming the Seigneur of Portneuf (Seigneur De La Poterie); and co-founder of the Communaute des Habitants in  1645.  He was named Governor of Trois-Rivieres and from May 6 to September 12, 1663; was acting Governor of the entire colony of New France.

Marguerite and Jacques would have three children.  Her husband died on November 4, 1687, but it is unknown when and where Marguerite died, though it may have been soon after their son Michel was born.
