A Marriageable Young Girl

Marthe Leboeuf (1636-1671)

Marthe-Marguerite Leboeuf  was born about 1636 at Notre-Dame, Troyes, Champagne, France; the daughter of Guillaume Leboeuf and Marguerite Maillet.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Gabriel Lemieux.  They were married September 03, 1658 in Ville De Quebec. Gabriel was born about 1614 at St-Michel, Rouen, Normandie, France; the son of Pierre Lemieux and Marie Luguen.  His brother Pierre married Marie Berard and also settled in New France.  Marthe and Gabriel would have five children before her death on November 23, 1671 at Lauzon, Levi, Quebec.  Gabriel would then marry Marie-Marthe Desmaris Beauregard, with whom he had five more children, and died on December 02, 1700.

The Next Generation

Nicolas Lemieux - Was born on August 20, 1659 in Ville De Quebec and died sometime before the 1666 census. Helene Lemieux - Was born about 1661 and died on November 19, 1746 in Ville De Quebec.  She married Rene Paquet and the couple had at least five children. Gabriel Lemieux - Was born on September 03, 1663 in Ville De Quebec and died on September 19, 1739 in La-Nativite de Laprairie, Laprairie, Quebec.  He married Jeanne Robidoux and the couple had ten children. Marie-Madeleine Lemieux - Was born about 1664 and died unknown in Ville De Quebec.  She married Pierre Martin and the couple had at least one child. Marguerite Lemieux - Was born on January 21, 1666 and died on January 08, 1667 in Ville De Quebec.
