Marie-Suzanne Benet was born about 1641 in the Parish of Ste-Marguerite, La Rochelle, Aunis, France; the daughter of Torbe Benet and Rose Delaunay. She arrived in Quebec as a Filles A Marier, contracted to Jean Gibault. Jean was a draper, born in 1636 at St-Hilaire-des-Loges, Fontenay-le-Comte, Maillezais, Poitou, France; the son of Mathurin Gibault and Jeanne Larchetel. They were married on July 26, 1662 in Ville De Quebec. Marie-Suzanne died on June 06, 1688 in Quebec City and Jean followed on January 15, 1701. The couple had no children. |
