Author's Notes: Post Season 3.  Brian & Justin were never caught doing the anti-Stockwell campaign.  Brian’s still partner at Vanguard, as well as financially sound, & Justin’s still at PIFA, as a junior.

Justin was absolutely exhausted.  He hated when he and Brian fought.  They hadn't had any major fight since they'd gotten back together, and Justin was hoping to keep that streak going for as long as possible.  He had spent all night in his studio, staring at the door, going over what happened in his head.  Brian’s words had hurt him more than any had before.  And for Justin the part that made him angry at himself, was that Brian’s accusations weren’t completely unfounded.  He just wished that Brian had allowed him to explain, before jumping to conclusions.

“Sunshine!  Your order’s up.  Quit dreaming about Brian and pick it up!”  Deb yelled during the morning rush at the diner the next day.

Justin kept glancing at the door as he delivered his orders and refilled glasses.  Michael, Ben and Emmett were in their usual booth, but Brian had yet to show.  He hoped Brian decided to skip breakfast, since he didn’t think he could handle another tongue lashing like last night.  ‘Or maybe he’ll pretend I don’t exist.  Bet no one ever thought the day would come when I wanted Brian to ignore me.’  Justin thought as he took the trash out.

Back inside the diner a woman entered the diner and looked around with a smile on her face.  She was about 5’7”, thin, with high cheekbones, creamy skin and red hair.  She was dressed casually in black jeans and a dark green sweater.  Her eyes, hidden by dark sunglasses, glanced around the diner and landed on the booth containing the guys.  She smirked to herself as she took a seat in the booth behind the three men, inconspicuously listening in.

“Does my baby look tired to you guys?”

“Brian probably spent all night fucking his brains out.  Fucking tends to drain on a person’s energy sources.”

“But it’s not Justin’s ‘I got fucked all night so I’m happy to be this tired’ look.  It’s more of a ‘someone kicked my puppy and then ran it over with their car, so I was up all night crying’ look.  Brian better not have hurt him.  They’ve been so happy lately.”

“They probably got into an argument.  It wouldn’t be the first time, and it most likely won’t be the last either.  Maybe they need the drama in their relationship.  Some couples need it to balance out the highs and the lows.”

“Ben’s right Emmett.  They’ll make up.  They always do.”

The guys moved on to discussing other topics when Justin came back in.  He approached their booth with a coffee pot and refilled their cups before they could ask him to.

“Hey baby!  How’s school going?”  Justin looked at Emmett and managed a weak smile.  “Midterms suck, but they’re almost over, so things should slow down soon.”  He looked at Michael.  “I should be able to start working on Rage again next week.”  Michael smiled warmly at Justin.  “Take your time.  Issues 1 and 2 are still selling like mad.  Besides you know Ma would kick your butt if you slacked on your school work.”  Everyone chuckled at that thought.

“Sunshine, stop socializing!”

“Better get back to work or she’ll kick my butt right now.”

Justin moved on to the next table, with the coffee pot in hand.  He barely glanced at the woman in dark glasses.  “Are you ready for me to take your order?  Would you like to start with coffee?”

“No thanks.”  She replied as she took off her glasses and looked at him intensely.  “But I would like a more proper welcome, Justy.”

Justin looked at her in shock for a minute.

“Holy shit!”  Justin screamed as he launched himself at the woman in the booth, practically tackling her.  “Oh my G-d…Shit…Oh my G-d!”  He repeats as he clung to the woman.  The woman is slightly more composed but her blue eyes, glassy with unshed tears, hold the same emotions that Justin is expressing.

The guys, including Deb watched in shock as Justin holds onto a woman with excitement they normally only see directed at Brian.  They all become concerned moments later when they realize that his face has become streaked with tears.

“Sunshine?  Justin?  Are you ok?”  Deb asked tentatively, worried about her surrogate son.

Justin managed to tear himself away from the woman, and quietly composed himself.  The woman looked at him tenderly and wiped his face with a napkin.  He smiled his thanks and stood up, pulling the woman out of the booth behind him.

“Didn’t mean to scare you guys.  I just got over excited.”  Justin looked at them sheepishly.  “Well, aren’t you going to introduce us to your friend?”  Emmett asked as they all looked at the woman curiously, at who could generate that kind of reaction from Justin.

“Sorry.  Deb, Michael, Ben, Emmett,” Justin pointed to each person in turn, “This is my older sister, Alexandra Taylor.”  The group’s collective jaws dropped in surprise,  ‘Sister?!’

Justin and his sister look at each other and then back at the group with matching Sunshine smiles in place.

“Call me Alex.”
