Candle in the Wind

Goodbye England's rose,
May you ever grow in our hearts,
You were the grace that placed yourself
Where lives were torn apart,

You called out to your country
and whispered to those in pain,
Now you belong to Heaven,
And the stars spell out your name,

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind,
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in,

And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills,
Your candle's burned out long before,
Your legend never will.

Lovliness we've lost;
These empty days without your smile,
This torch we'll always carry
For our nation's golden child.

And even though we try,
The truth brings us to tears;
All our words cannot express
The joy your brought us through the years.

Goodbye England's rose,
From a country lost without your soul,
Who'll miss the wings of your compassion,
More than you'll ever know.

Written by Bernie Taupin and Elton John and performed at Princess Diana's Funeral by Elton John, September 6,1997. RealAudio performance available below.

Fly

Fly, fly, little wing,
Fly beyond imagining,
The Softest cloud, the whitest dove,
Upon the wind of Heaven's love,
Past the planets and the stars,
Leave this lonely world of ours,
Escape the sorrow, and the pain,
And fly again....

Fly, fly, precious one,
Your endless journey has begun,
Take your gentle happiness,
Far too beautiful for this,
Cross over to the other shore,
There is peace forevermore,
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet,
Until we meet....

Fly, fly, do not fear,
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear,
Your heart is pure, your soul is free,
Be on your way, don't wait for me,
Above the universe you'll climb,
on beyond the hands of time,
The moon will rise, the sun will set,
But I won't forget....

Fly, fly, little wing,
Fly where only angels sing,
Fly away, the time is right,
Go now....
Find the light....

August 31, 1997, we lost a truly heroic person. Diana, Princess of Wales, committed her life of royalty to the help of others, putting their need before her own. She was an icon, a role model for all who knew her, loved her, and even watched her life as a Princess. To many, she we always be be a Princess, but to most, she will always be the rightful Queen.
My heart goes out to her two sons, Harry and William, for the loss of their mother alone is tragic enough. But a truly great person such as Diana can never be replaced, for her virtue and compassion were truly gifts from Heaven.
An angel among us, she was a shy violet, and modest person. We all watched her live and grow from an ugly duckling, as seen in the eyes of the Royal family, into the beautiful swan she always was inside, and she shined her love and heartfelt purity to all who met her and saw her.
Diana, 36, was killed trying to escape the photographers she would have gladly smiled upon had they been there to take pictures of her donating her time to a worthy cause, not so they could pry into her personal life.
Diana, you are still loved, yet greatly missed by all. Our hearts are with you, and we thank you for giving our lives meaning.....God Bless You, Diana.

We miss you.

Here, I light three candles. One for Prince William, one for Princess Diana, and one for Prince Harry.
I light a candle for Diana so that, from Heaven, she will always be able to see a light burning for her, to show her that she will always be loved. As long as this candle burns, the world will love and remember Diana, Princess of Wales.
For William and Harry, I light a candle to give them hope through the years as they grow into fine men. Let them follow the trail of light and become the virtuous, loving compassionate people their mother was. God bless them all.

Dodi and his father

Here, I also light a candle for Dodi Al Fayed, the Al Fayed Family, the chauffer, the family of the chauffer, and Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, whom has only recently been released from hospital.
Let us not forget Dodi Fayed, for he was the man who made Diana happiest in her final days. My heart and condolances go out to the Fayed Family.
Let us also not forget the chauffer. Although he was only recently found legally drunk, he was only doing what he was trained to do....protect Diana by taking her away from the danger that persued her.
He was off duty that evening and had been called in at the last minute to drive Diana and Fayed to Fayed's house in Paris. Sadly, it turned to tragedy.
God Bless all the families who have lost their loved ones, and God Bless Trevor Rees-Jones for successfully recovering from his injuries.

Please sign the guestbook with your heartfelt condolances to all who mourn Diana's tragic passing.....she will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
