Delta Chi's History at USF

***As quoted from Kim Whitney--Lambda B Province officer.

On November 3rd, 1964, "Syrinx"--a women's music organization--which was to eventually become the USF chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, had its first meeting.  There were nine members present.  The temporary chairperson, Robin Horer, introduced Mrs. Ruth Gould, National Vice President of SAI, who encouraged them to form the new chapter.  Officers were elected and a constitution and by-laws were adopted in accordance with those of the National Music Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota.

During the weekend of November 19th, 20th, and 21st, "Syrinx" was installed as a chapter of SAI.  Friday, Nov. 19th, the chapter was installed, Saturday, Nov. 20th, the members were initiated, and on Sunday, Nov. 21st, the new members performed their first musical as SAI.  Mrs. Ruth Gould, NVP, presided at these ceremonies.
