Southeast Asia Palms and Other Scenery

This is just a small subset of the pictures I took on a Southeast Asia trip in late Feb./early March 1997. These pictures show some of the palms from Singapore and Malaysia (I also went to small parts of Thailand and Indonesia), and some landscapes. I may add more pictures eventually.

  • Sealing Wax Palms in the Singapore Botanical Gardens

  • Various Palms (Including the Thorn Palm (Oncosperma tigillarium) on the Left in the Singapore Botanical Gardens

  • Why It's So Green and Beautiful There!
(The white is reflected light, not snow!)

  • Royal Palms in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
    (Hmmm...actually an almost-hardy palm!)

  • Unidentified Palm in the Malaysian Rainforest Outside of Kuala Lumpur

  • No Palm in This Picture...Just a Rainforest Shot

  • A "Highway" View of the Rainforest
(A view not normally pictured! Note how well maintained the road is, despite Malaysia being a developing nation!)

  • Cameron Highlands, Malaysia (A Mile Above Sea Level)
(Note the slightly-fuzzy tree-ferns on the right. This area is "montane rainforest".)

  • Cameron Highlands, Malaysia (Another Shot)
(Agapanthus are planted there! Also...the big leaves in the picture are from a VINE...not a TREE...how weird!)
