Old-time Stringing

Upgraded  400kv line

New York State, USA

These pictures show evidence of corrosion of both newer (1960's) steel pole and older (1940's) steel lattice structures. Examples of corrosion in smaller-size overhead conductors

Steel pole H-frame 765kv transmission line built in the 1980's with 4 conductor bundle and 400+ meter spans. An old (1950's) 230kv double circuit structure transmission line with only one circuit conductored and close-up of "arcing horns" on strain insulators.

Finland

110 kV line Honkaisenranta-Hirvensalo
Suspension (tangent & guyed angle) and dead end tower types
Weight range 3100...4300 kg

Main structural element 508 CHS

110 kV lines with covered conductors
Mätäkivi - Sula line constructed in 1996
Arc-shaped steel tube poles
Conductor SAX 355
Small phase spacings - reduced EM-fields

110kV lines with covered conductors
Forest SAX-line
Constructed in 2000
Wooden poles
Conductor SAX 185
Narrow right-of-wat
Small phase spacings-reduced EM fields

110 kV line with landscape towers in Säkylä

2 x 400 kV guyed suspension towers in Länsisalmi-Kymi line
Overall height range 42.2...60.2 m
Weight range 26000-35700 kg

The newest power line in Finland.   110 kV line Salmisaari - Meilahti located in the center of Helsinki.  Double circuit line with landscape towers
