BARNET BABB DEED: "Greene County, TN Deed", Pg 339-340 Deed E W Headrick , Clerk to Barnett Babb 45 acres of land Whereas Alexander Brown and George B Gass Administrators of the Estate of James F King deceased did at the December term 1857 of the County Court of Greene County Tennessee file their petitions. Stating among other things that the personality of their intestate would not pay the Int and bons fide debts due and owing from said estate and that resort would have to be had to the real estate of the said James F King dec'd to pay & satisfy the same, And, whereas at the January term of said Court 1858. Said cause come on to be heard and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that all the prelimary proceedings had been regularly had the Court was therefore pleased to order adjudge and decree that the clerk of this court proceed to sell said lands. In obedience ot said decree the Clerk proceeded on the 23d day of February 1858 on the premises, after advertising according to law to sell the several tracts of land in the decree mentioned, at which Sale one Barnet Babb became the purchaser of the Forty five acre tract of land in the pleadings in this cause mentioned for the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars, he being the highest best, and last bidder for the same for which he executed his note and security. And at the May term of the County Court 1859 it appearing from the Clerks Report made and filed in this case, that the said Barnet Babb had fully paid for said land. The court was pleased to order adjudge and decree that the lien heretofore retained on said land be discharged and that the Clerk of this Court make and execute unto the said Barnet Babb a Deed to said tract of land, on his furnishing the courses of the same and paying the fee for writing said deed - and which courses having been furnished and are as follows - Beginning at a Gum and white oak then south twenty three west, eighty two poles to a dogwood and white oak, South fifty three east twnety six poles to a large white oak corner to Babbs then North forty one east, one hundred and fifty Six poles to a stake North thirty six west Eight poles to two white oaks, Marshalls corner then with his line North thirty five Est fifty two poles to a dogwood and chestnut oak North foty nine West, twenty poles to a walnut and chestnut then South forty seven and a half West one hundred and four poles to a stake in a road then a direct line to the Beginning containing by estimation forty four and a half acres be the same more or less. ___, therefore in consequence of the premises and in consideration of the said sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars paid as aforesaid. I Elijah W Headrick Clerk of the County Court of Greene County, do hereby transfer and convey to the said Barnet Babb his heirs and assigns forever, all the right and title that the said James F King had at the time of his death to said tract of land. To have and to and to hold the same unto the said Barnet Babb his heirs and assigns forever in as full and ample a manner as I as Clerk aforesaid can or out to convey the same, but no further or otherwise.
