First letter

                             The 19th 96
Newmansville Tenn             Feb
Dar grandson I drop you a few lines to let know we are all well at present I am still some better but have not benn out of the house yet sinse you left home the rest of folkes are all well at this time when these lines comes to hand hope they will find you all well I received your letter dated the 7th I was glad to hear that you were well and well satisfied you said you thought I was not going to write to you to you don't think that I would forget you your absense is always prsent as for news I have but little to write Charly Guantt is about reddy to start for Texas Coon is fixeing to go to arcansas wee are not getting much wrk done for some time a good deal of rain and some cold wether snowing some to day I have nothing much to write and not able set long at a time I will close at present by saying be a good boy bud and try to make a good man  _hren all apearance of will and walk upright in every thing and you will always have friends

March the 16th 1896
Newmansville, Green Co Tenn
dear grandson it is with a good deal of pain to me to try to write to write a few lines to you to let you here from us I am not improveing much I have not ben out of the house since you left here but may get when the wether gets warm  Mol not ben very well for some time. I hope when these few lines reaches you they will find you all well I receied your present which was somewhat of a curosity in this country the folkes are all well so far I know we have had some cold march wether it has moderated to rain snow we have nothing planted yet I have nothing much to write at this time of importance I will close at presnet write soon

dear grandson I drop you this note to let you know that wee are well as common but myself I don't improve much  I received your letter dated the 10th and was glad to here that you were well  we still have cold wether and a little snow we have not planted any thing yet I have nothing much to write we will send you a little box of fruit I expect by freight Molly sends you a far of grivncees and one of aple butter if they get through safe  Coon will start to morrow for arcansas Thomas Dunn come in Past saturdy they say I note by saw him yet I close this short by saying write soon
