| .1 Barnet CRABTREE was born before 1766 in North Carolina, and died January 1825 in Greene County, Tennessee. He married Margaret 'Peggy' KIRBY about 1791. She was born about 1775 in Virginia to Daniel KIRBY and Betsy OWL. She died 9 October 1856 in Tennessee. It is stated among Crabtree researchers that both are buried at Babbs Valley Cemetery, Babb Valley, Greene County, Tennessee. However, they are not on any of the listings for that cemetery.. NOTE: (1)Barnett and his half-brother John came to the Watauga Settlement in East TN about 1790. Rumor is that John later went west. Place unknown. (2)Barnett Crabtree - List of Capt Joh Hind Co. in Randolph County, NC. He completed a Tour of duty in the Regiment of horsemen, commanded by Co. Luttrell by order of the Board of War in the year 1780, form 27, and expired in Feb. 27, 1789. (3)On 1790 Randolph County, NC census there were two James Crabtree's listed. By 1800 there were two James Crabtee's and one Benjamin. By 1810 there were none in that County. So, did all these Crabtree's come to Tennessee. We know that Barnett was in Greene County by 1805. | Have not worked this line for years. Because of a recent contact (Andrea) I did some census research to pull some of this family together. We both had the same information about Barnet. And, to be honest, I do not remember where I got the information about Barnet and his half-brother John. It states that they were from Midgely, Yorkshire, England (do not know if this has been proven). I, however believe that he was born in North Carolina. Henry, his son, on the 1880 census says his father was born in North Carolina. And Barnett can be found in Randolph County in mid 1780. So using that, I will start to research there in the next few months. Using information found in Randolph where he was in Capt John Hind's Company as horseman in the year 1780. I have doubts that the birth that I have for him (1766) would be true. He would only be 14 in 1780 Thanks! to three special ladies for sharing information on this family, Andrea, Barbara, and Carol. Two of Barnets daughters married into the Babb line. I will put some of their information here for now, but it will not be complete.
