John HALL Sr
My research was done many years ago. Many changes will be made to these pages this year.  It was brought to my attention that I may have the wrong parents for John Sr. In working with Mr. Robert King in January 2006 I realized that I had several errors.  Came to the conclusion while working with Robert that Thomas Sr and Thomas Jr that I had as John Sr’s ancestors, can not be proven.  The Thomas Sr and Thomas Jr lived in the northern part of the county and our John lived in the southern part. So, I will be removing them. Will leave some of the notes that I had… but remember that I’m not completely sure they belong with this John.  Please, verify anything that you find here.  Thank you Robert for your help.

1. John HALL Sr. was born about 1732 probably in Virginia but his has not been proven. He died about 1786 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He married Jean UNKNOWN about 1750. She was born before 1736 in Virginia. She died after 1789 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

NOTE: (1)As of this date February 2006….it is believed that John Sr may have arrived shortly before his Land Grant of 1780. He made his will in 1772 in Pittsylvania Co, but not sure if he lived in the Double Creek area at that time. He and son Joseph or mentioned on a deed between Watkins and Walker in 1778. The exact date that he first came to Double Creek area is not known.….and, it is not known where this John Sr came from.
(2)Jean consents to daughter Mary Sarah, & Margaret's marriage in 1789.
(3)The County Courts were presided over at this time by justices of the peace who were appointed by the Governor from among "the most able, honest and judicious citizens of their respective counties"; Clement Read was appointed clerk, Thomas Bouldin sheriff, and Gideon Marr, King's attorney for the new county. John HALL was named surveyor of the north distirct and Peter Fontaine surveyor of the south district of the county.
(4)To prevent suffering in the families of absent soldiers the court appointed certain ones to furnish the wives of the soldiers with the necessaries of life. Charles Burton was appointed to furnish the wife of John Hall.
(5)This note may not have anything to do with this John…but I’m hoping that in time I can research and find that it is… BUT…has not been proven as of 2006.
