3 Oliver HALL was born on 24 October 1789 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He died before 20 June 1848 in Surry County, North Carolina. He married Lucy CARTER on 9 December 1818 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Lucy was born on 23 December 1798 in Virginia. She died after 1870 in Surry County, North Carolina. NOTE: (1)Oliver Hall and brother Solomon were in Surry County, NC when the 1840 census was taken. (2)In Pittsylvania County, VA Court order book 40 pg 32 (below). Moreover appearing to the court that the defendants Ambrose Hays and Judith his wife, William Hall, Coleman Hall, and Moses Hall have been duly served with a subpoena in this suit more than two months, and they still failing to appear and answer, the plaintiffs bill is taken for confessed against said last mentioned defendants. And now this cause this day came on to be heard. On the bill, the exhibits, and it was argued by counsel, on consideration whereof the court being satisfied that the land in the bill mentioned is not worth to each reversioner the sum of $300 and that it would be injurious to the parties interested to divide the same into seven lots, doth adjudge, order and decree that Henry W. Barksdale who is hereby appointed a commissioner for that purpose do after he shall have duly advertised the time and place of sale at the most public places in the neighborhood, sell by way of auction the tract of land whereof the said John Hall and Joanna Hall dec'd seized and devised to the said Coleman Hall in trust for the benefit of the said John & Joanna Hall, dec'd, on a credit of one and two years equal annual installments requiring bonds and good and approved security of the purchasers and report his proceedings to the court, in order to a final decree."
