1. John KINCAID was born about 1720 in Scotland. He died on 4 August 1772 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth JORDAN about 1740 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was born about 1720.

NOTE: (1)John Kincaid was a shop-keeper and a plantation owner. He owned plantations in {a}
Brandywine Creek, PA {b}Sherman's Valley, PA {c}land on the border of Lincoln Co, NC and York
Co, SC {d}He owned lots and rental houses in Carlisle, PA.
(2)His faith was Presbyterian.
(3)John the first immigrant.

WILL: I John Kinkead of Carlisle, Cumberland, Shopkeepr being very sick of Body but of perfect mind & memory. Bequeath: wife Elizabeth all my houses in Carlisle and all my servant girls and my negro girl Rose whom I hereby allow to be taught to read. I also give to my wife my black horse, saddle, her bed and furniture and wearing apparell. I also give my wife one full third part of the residue of my personal estate, except what is otherwise disposed. I give the remaining two-thirds to all my children to be divided equally. I give to Andrew plantation on Canedogwinets Creek where he now lives and land where James Stackpole and Wm Campbell now lives, and his son John after he reaches the age of 21. I give to my son Thomas the Plantation oin Shermans Valley where he now lives it containing two surveys and also my house and lot in Carlisle on the corner of Lowther Street. I give to my son John the plantation on Crowder Creek the land obtained a patent in Tryon Co in North Carolina but since a division of South Carolina. I give one hundred pound lawful money of PA to my daughter Elizabeth, also one hundred pounds to my grandson John Waugh to be given to him at the sale of the house. If he should die before age 21 then I order my said daughter Elizabeth to give the said hundred pds to her children or divide amongst them as she sall think proper. My wife Elizabeth to be Executrix and friends John Jordan & Jonathan Hearsley my Executors. I do hereby also nominate and appoint my well beloved son in law Wm Waugh to be guardian of the person and estate of my said grandson John Waugh during his minority. Signed this 2nd day of Aug 1772. …2 Mary KINCAID was born about 1745 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She died on 13 August 1758 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

…2 Thomas KINCAID was born about 1747 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He died about 1835 in Anderson Co, Tennessee. He married (1)UNKNOWN in Pennsylvania. He married (2)Hannah CLINGAN about 1778 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was born about 1760 to George CLINGAN. She died before 1830 in Tennessee.

NOTE: (1)Thomas first was on the Cumberland Co, PA tax lists in 1769, single..
(2)Mentioned in his fathers will of 1772. He inherited land from his father John in Tyrone Township, Cumberland Co, PA.
(3)Thomas possibly lived in Carlisle and Shearmond Valley, Cumberrland Co, PA, according to a deed of
1779, before coming to TN.
(4)Thomas was a Yoeman.
(5)He served in Rev War 1778 out of Cumberland Co, PA.
(6)1786 was in or near NC/SC border as he had a brother John who was living in York Co, SC. His son Clingan states he was born in NC then another time he states SC.

DEEDS: (1)9 Jan 1779 Thomas Kinkead of Tyrone Township, Cumberland Co, PA, Yoeman and Hannah his wife to James Pollock of Carlisle, of same Co, & state a Tavern keeper for 200 pounds. Whereas John Kinkead late of the Town of Carlisle. Being a lot on south side of Southern Street and on the East side of Pill or Bill Street in Carlisle. John did seize and possess this land 2 Aug 1772. He did Will and bequeath this lot in Carlisle and a plantation in Shearmand Valley to Thomas Kinkead the land on which he now lives. ……3 Jennet KINCAID was born about 1772 in Pennsylvania. She died in February 1855 in Arkansas. She married Edward CLINGAN on 10 April 1792 in Jefferson County, North Carolina.

NOTE: Jennett had moved to AR with her son Edward by 1848. She was living with him in Clark County, AR in 1850.

MARRIAGE: Kinkaid, Jennet to Edward Clingan: License: April 10, 1792 in Jefferson Co, TN. "Jefferson County, Tennessee, Marriages" pg 129.  **State should be NC, because TN did not become a state until 1796.

……3 Margaret KINCAID was born about 1780 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She died about 1860 in Mullentown, Wayne County, Kentucky. She married (1)John MELONEY on 12 November 1798 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. She married (2)Robert BLAKELY about 1814 in Anderson County, Tennessee.

NOTE: (1)Margaret name her 1st daughter Hannah (after her mother) and she had a son Thomas (named for her father).
(2) Margaret made application for bounty land due to the fact that her first husband, John, served in the War of 1812. She received 160 acres. Warrant #31772.

MARRIAGE: (1)Peggy Kincaid to John Maloney on 12 Nov 1798 Jefferson Co, TN, " Jefferson Co Marriage Records" pg 129 also listed in "Early East TN Marriages" by Sistler, Bride, pg 202. (2)Robert Blakely abt 183_ in Anderson Co, TN. Found in John Maloney's pension file when Margaret applied for a penson when her 1st husband died in the War of 1812, she stated on application she married her second
husband in Anderson Co, TN.

DEATH: 186_ near Mullentown, Wayne Co, KY.

MILITARY:  War 1812 TN. He died around that time. Is not known if he died during the war. Margaret received 160 acres bounty land Warrant #31772.
