These Miller pages will be dedicated to my Grandmother who I never knew but grew to love. Having heard my Grandfather and their children talk of her...I know that she must have been a wonderful person. I wish with all my heart that I could have known her. Especially, after listening my father speak of her and seeing tears in his eyes. He was only about 4 years old when she died so I'm sure his memories of her were only from stories his father and older brothers had told him as he was growing up. My step/grandmother was a wonderful generous person and I loved her dearly but the longing to know my grandmother was always there.

This is my DAR line and is proven from my grandmother to Andrew.

1. Andrew MILLER was born about 1700 probably in Pennsylvania. [That is where my first record of him is found.] He died before 1781 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He married Elizabeth UNKNOWN about 1720 in Pennsylvania.

NOTE: (1)There was another Andrew in the same area. One deed refers to an Andrew Miller Jr. which I believe is this Andrew.
(2)Deeds found in Mecklenburg Co, NC show the time they moved to NC and also that they were from PA.

Item: I give and Bequeath unto Andrew Miller my beloved son the sum of one hundred pounds pr____ money in case the said Andrew should demand the same within the space of ten years from this date and in case he should not demand it in that time my will and pleasure that this legacy shall sink into my estate.

Item: I give and bequeath unto Hannah Miller my beloved daughter the sum of one hundred pounds one bed and bedding one mare to the ___ of twenty pounds one saddle and bridle worth ten pound to be paid in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine--- and it is my will and pleasure that ll the remainder of my personal estate shall be sold and the money arising from that sale (after my just Debts ____ Legacies are paid) Shall be equally divided among the following Legatees to with: Matthew Miller, Margaret Miller, Sarah Brandon, Catharine Miller and Hannah Millier it is further my will and pleasure that in case either Margret Miller Catharine Miller or Hannah Miller should die before marriage or making there own will that such share should be equally divided of among the survirors of them it is further my will and pleasure that in case the aforesaid Matthew Miller should die without issue Lawfully begotten that then the Legacy derisses to him in land shall belong to my surviving executors to them their heirs and assigns forever in trust Never the less that they the Surviving Executors with all Convinents speed after the deaths of his ____ said Matthew Miller shall sale and divide ____ the said proceeds – testments to them here so that for the just price that can be had and the money arising from that sale to be equally divided among the following Legatees to wit: Margret Miller, Sarah Brandon, Catharine Miller and Hannah Miller and I do hereby constitute and appoint Elizabeth Miller my dearly beloved wife and Matthew Miller my beloved son, Matthew Steward and Thomas Hall my trusly friends my sole Executors of this my last will and testament and to hereby utterly_____ revoke and dismisall all and every other former wills of testament Legacies and Excutors by one in any wife _____ willed or bequeathed before satisfying this and any others to be my last will and testament in witnesses where of I the said Andrew Miller have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty sixth day of April 1776.

… 2 N. Patrick MILLER was born about 1724 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He died after 1780 in North Carolina [probably Mecklenburg County]. He married Mary BRAUN on 30 November 1752 in Christ Lutheran Church, York County, Pennsylvania.

NOTE: (1)Mentioned in father’s will 1776 Mecklenburg Co, NC. He was first son listed. Does this lead us to believe that he is the oldest child?.
(2)Mary is on some deeds in Mecklenburg Co, NC with Patrick.

MARRIAGE: Patrick Miller to Mary Braun (Brown), 30 Nov 1752; Christ Lutheran Church of York Co, PA. Note: actual marriage record shows Mary Braun.

…… 3 Adam MILLER was born on 8 June 1760 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He died on 5 July 1848 in Roane County, Tennessee. He married Elizabeth UNKNOWN about 1786 in Washington County, North Carolina (later Tennessee). Elizabeth was born about 1766 in Maryland. She died on 18 September 1854 in Roane County, Tennessee.

NOTE: (1)It has NOT been proven that Adam and Henry are brothers. But there is a strong indication that they are because of traveling to the same places in an approximate time frame. These are a few reasons that I think that they are brothers: (a)From Military records it says he was born in Cumberland County, PA. This is where Patrick and Andrew Miller lived before moving to Mecklenburg County, NC. (b)Adam and Henry were in Greene County, NC (later TN) together. Henry witnessed a deed for Adam in Greene County. (c)Both families moved to Roane County, TN between 1800 and 1806.

I, Elizabeth Miller of Roane County State of Tennessee do make and publish this my last will and
testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time heretofore made and first I direct that my body be decently intured in a manner suitable to my condition in life and as to such worldly Estate as it hath plesed God to inturst me with I dispose of the same as follows
First: I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come in hands of my Executor from any portion of my Estate real or Personal.
Second: I give and bequeath to my two daughters Nancy Miller and Elizabeth Miller the tract of land I now live on it being all the land I possess I further give to Nancy Miller and Elizabeth Miller all of the crop that is groing on the old part of the farm and all the crop that is now groing on the new ground. I give and bequeath to my son Adam C Miller I further give and bequeath to my two above named daughters Nancy and Elizabeth Miller all the remains of personal Estate if there be any thing remaining after the debts are paid Either stock household or kitchen furnature I do hereby make ordain and appoint my esteemed neighbor Robert C Alexander Esqr. This couple were buried in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Roane County, Tennessee.

NOTE: He was a farmer and raised his family on a farm in the Poplar Springs Community. This community is East of Kingston.

… 2 David MILLER. He died in about 1819 in Blount County, Tennessee. He married Martha Isabelle HARRIS in Virginia, the widow of James WYLY. She was born about 1728 to James HARRIS and Jane MCKINLEY in Virginia. She died in March 1819 in Blount County, Tennessee.

NOTE: (1)Mentioned in father’s will 1776 Mecklenburg Co, NC naming his child Andrew.
(2)David Miller is mentioned in deposition of Martha Wyly Miller. This deposition is found in Henry Miller’s Revolutionary War pension file. It stated that during the war his wife, Martha, and children moved to Virginia to live with her mother and step-father.

……3 Elizabeth MILLER was born about 1773. She died 14 March 1816 in Tennessee. She married Thomas TAYLOR. Thomas died on 22 November 1810.

NOTE: "Heritage of Roane Co, TN, 1801-1999" by submitters.... pg 345...states that Elizabeth died 14 Mar 1816 and that her husband died 22 Nov 1810.
