PRESTON, Uriah F.
“Mariposa Gazette”, November 10, 1888

The death of Uriah F. Preston, last Sunday at his home on the Chowchilla, was one which brought sorrow to the hearts of many friends. He was an exceptional man, a kind husband and neighbor. His death has created a void that cannot well be filled. The deceased came to this county with his parents in an early day when he was but a child and grew to manhood in our midst. He was industrious and possessed exemplary habits, conservative manners, and was generous to a fault. He was married to a Mrs. Mollie Wilson, daughter of Daniel M. Jackson of Cathey's Valley, who is now so suddenly and unexpectedly separated by death from a devoted companion. His death was but adding sorrow to sadness, for the father of the deceased had preceded him in death by just one week to a day. The son having contracted his sickness while taking care of his father in the early stage of his illness, no doubt brought upon himself that fearful disease pneumonia, which has consigned them both to the grave. The widow and mother, and other relatives of deceased, have the sympathy, of all the community in their sad bereavement. The body was brought to town Tuesday, and was followed by a large procession, to the public cemetery where, the burial took place.
Services were conducted at the grave by Rev. A. W. Roberts.

MARGRAVE - ASHWORTH     [daughter of David and Mary Elizabeth (Preston) Ashworth]
“Mariposa Gazette”, February 1, 1902

Margrave - Ashworth Nuptials.

There is an indescribable sympathy in the throbbing heart of humanity that goes out spontaneously to a newly married couple where the contracting parties are in the May-morn of their lives. Particularly is this so where all the surrounding circumstances makes the marriage a happy one. Never was there a more happy marriage more consummated than that of Fred Margrave and Miss May Ashworth last Sunday evening at the Mariposa hotel. Both are natives of Mariposa county, the bride has caught the beauty of its loveliness and both have caught the magic of its smiles. Before them is a different pathway to their past which now is bright with flowers. We trust as it lengthens and as the many trials that beset the lives of all are met that they will meet them bravely and that the white radiance of their beginning will never wear a stain as it glides smoothly down the arch of time.  A few friends gathered in the parlor of the hotel and witnessed their marriage by our Superior Judge J. M. Corcoran.

TRABUCCO, Hazel    [daughter of  Frank and Maud (Ashworth) Trabucco]
“Mariposa Gazette”, November 14, 1908

Death of Hazel Trabucco.

Hazel Adele, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Trabucco, passed away at the home of her parents at Mt. Bullion on Friday evening, November 6, 1908, aged 12 years, 3 months and two days.

Death was not unexpected, as she had suffered an attack of typhoid fever that had left her in such a weak condition that she could not rally, but it was a sad shock to the loving ones who were at her bedside at the last. Everything that loving minds could think of and that loving hands could do was done for the little sufferer but to no avail, the call had come and it must be answered.

The funeral services were held in Mt. Bullion Sunday and the interment was in the Masonic cemetery at Mariposa where a large assemblage, friends of the family, met to see the last sad rites performed. The parents and relatives have the sympathy of the whole community in their bereavement.

TRABUCCO,  Hazel
Mariposa Gazette, November 21, 1908

In Memorium.

Oh, Heavenly Father we bow our heads in sorrow and reverence to your infinite wisdom in sending into our midst your angel of eternal life, and taking from this world of sorrow and of care, to your heavenly throne on high, our beloved little friend and playmate Hazel Adele Trabucco.

On October 7, 1908, unseen by mortal eyes he entered our school house and beckoned Hazel to follow, that she might prepare herself to meet her maker, and ever hovering near, while willing hands and loving hearts were doing all that mortal man could do to keep dear Hazel with us a little while longer.  On the 6th of November as Hazel lay in all her beauty and purity the angel of love imprinted her kiss and Hazel's soul flew to her God.

Hazel Trabucco was born in Mt. Bullion August 4, 1896, and all of her short life was spent in the vicinity of her birthplace, where her kindly way and loving heart made her the general favorite with all who knew her, and her death casts a gloom over the whole community.

The floral pieces sent by the school children and others showed the high esteem in which she was held, and the singing of her favorite song, "I'll be a Sunbeam," by her former teacher Mrs. Gallison, and the Sunday School class brightened the way for others to follow.

The funeral services were held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Trabucco, in Mt. Bullion, and a large cortege followed her remains to their last resting place in the Masonic cemetery at Mariposa.
