1. James WYLY was born about 1724 in ?Ireland?. He died about 1772 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  He married Martha Isabelle HARRIS before 1750 in ?Ft Lupton, Franklin County, Pennsylvania?. She was born about 1728 to James HARRIS and Jane MCKINLEY. She died in March 1819 in Blount County, Tennessee.

WILL: Will dated 31 Dec 1771 Mecklenburg Co, NC.

MARRIAGE: (1)James Wyly to Martha Isabelle Harris in VA or NC. (2)Martha Isabelle Wyly to David Miller abt 1772/1773 in Cripple Creek, Wythe Co, VA.

…2 John WYLY was born about 1751 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He died about 1772/1774 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He married Jennett THOMAS.

NOTE: Died at age 21 within a year of his father's death.

…2 Jane WYLY was born about 1752 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She married Francis MCCALL. Francis died about 1821.

NOTE: Married while a minor moved to Mississippi. In her father’s will she was given slave Dina.

…2 Martha C. WYLY was born about 1759 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She died on 22 December 1848 in Roane County, Tennessee.  She married Henry MILLER in February 1774 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He was born about 1753 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to N. Patrick MILLER and Mary BRAUN. He died on 6 August 1819 in Roane County, Tennessee.

NOTE: Mentioned in father's will, she received slave Fanny.

MARRIAGE: Henry Miller married Martha Wyly, Feb 1774 in Rutherford Co, NC by Neale, according
to her deposition in Pension File. Also a depositon by James Wyly (her brother) states that he was present when they married.

……3 John Wyly MILLER was born on 8 November 1775 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He died before 1861 in Tennessee. He married (1)Mary WEAR on 14 March 1803 in Roane County, Tennessee. He married (2)Charity UNKNOWN.

NOTE:  (2)Moved to Mississippi.
NOTE: (2)Charity was a daughter of Chocktaw Indian Chief.

…… 3 Mary Dobson MILLER was born on 8 April 1777 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She died about 1840/1852.  Mary married Thomas PRITCHETT on 20 August 1794 in Greene County, North Carolina (became TN in 1796). Thomas was born about 1774.

MARRIAGE: Mary Miller to Thomas Pritchard 20 Aug 1794. "Greene Co, TN  Marriages" by Soderbert pg 122. Their marriage was in 1794 in Greene Co, TN. TN was not yet a state.

……3 James Hanks MILLER was born on 23 August 1780 in Cripple Creek, Wythe County, Virginia. He died on 6 February 1854 in Bradley County, Tennessee. He married Jane P. CLOPTON on 2 January 1802; place unknown. Jane was born on 30 April 1782 in Virginia. She died on 10 April 1841 in  Roane County, Tennessee.

NOTE: (1)His middle name has not been proven.
(2)Is there a connection between Jane and Guy Clopton who was in Roane County, TN very early?

BIRTH: (1)Bible record: "James H Miller was borne August 23 1780".. (2)His father's  pension file has a different Bible record. Has his birth 22 Aug 1780.  A deposition in pension states that mother was living in Cripple Creek, VA when their 3rd child was born. This would James Hanks.

MARRIAGE: His Bible record: Marriages: "James H Miller was marred to Jane P Clopton January 2, 1802 C C__ _______"

DEATH: Bible record: "James H Miller Died on the 6th Februry 1854"
DEATH: Bible record. "Jane P Miller Died on the 10th of April 1841"

……3 Martha 'Patsey' MILLER was born on 15 February 1782 in Washington County, North Carolina (later TN). She died in October 1815 in Roane County, Tennessee.  She married Benjamin Franklin BREAZEALE on 24 March 1805 in Roane County, Tennessee. He was born about 1777 in South Carolina to Henry BREAZEALE and Elizabeth HAWKINS. He died on 14 March 1850 in Roane County, Tennessee.

MARRIAGE: Patsey Miller to Benjamin Franklin Breazeale 3-24-1805 [Ro] "Early East TN Marriages" by Sistler.

……3 Henry MILLER Jr. was born about 1784 in Washington County, North Carolina. He died before 1850. Henry married Polly ERWIN on 15 February 1810 in Roane County, Tennessee. Polly died before 1850.

……3 Andrew MILLER was born about 1786 in Washington County, North Carolina. He died about 1836 in Washington County, Texas.  He married Celia NEALE about 1818 in Texas.

NOTE: Moved to Washington Co, TX; but was although thought to have moved to MS.

……3 Margaret MILLER was born on 8 May 1788 in Washington County, North Carolina. She died about 1852 in Roane County, Tennessee and was buried in Breazeale Cemetery, Loudon County, Tennessee. She married James BREAZEALE on 8 August 1805 in Roane County, Tennessee. He was born on 25 October 1778 in South Carolina to Henry BREAZEALE and Elizabeth HAWKINS. He died on 1 September 1854 in Roane County, Tennessee and was buried in Breazeale Cemetery, Loudon County, Tennessee.

……3 Elizabeth MILLER was born about 1790 in Washington County, North Carolina. She died after 1852 in Murray County, Georgia.  She married Henry DAVIS on 16 October 1811 in Roane County, Tennessee. He was born about 1780 to Bazel DAVIS and Frances 'Fanny' UNKNOWN. He died after 1839 in Murray County, Georgia.

NOTE: (1)Henry Davis and Betsy lived in GA Apr 1837.

……3 William D. MILLER was born about 1792 in Roane County, Tennessee. He died before 1852. He married Elizabeth WOODS on 9 October 1812 in Roane County, Tennessee.

…… 3 Isabelle MILLER was born about 1793 in Washington County, North Carolina. She died after 1852. She married Joseph T. HANKINS on 24 October 1817 in Roane County, Tennessee. He died in Roane County, Tennessee. He was son of Joseph HANKINS and Kersiah UNKNOWN.

NOTE: (1)Husband Joseph left will in Roane Co, TN.  Pg 23-36 in 1822. James Hankins and Amos Marney were executors.

……3 Dobson MILLER was born about 1800 in Greene County, Tennessee. He died about 1877 in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri and was buried in Denney Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri. He married Mary Ann BURNETT on 18 July 1820 in Roane County, Tennessee. She was born about 1800 in Tennessee to Moses BURNETT. She died about 1872.

NOTE: Moved to Douglas Co, MO about 1856.

…2 THOMAS WYLY was born about 1761 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He died about 1772/1773.

NOTE: Died within a year of his father's death.

…2 James WYLY was born on 19 December 1762 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He died on 12 February 1851 in Blount County, Tennessee.  He married (1)Sarah SHANKS on 6 July 1784. She was born about 1765 in North Carolina. He married (2)Mary WHITTENBURGER on 15 January 1828 in Blount County, Tennessee. She was born on 22 August 1800 and died on 19 January 1867.

NOTE: (1)James Wyly listed on Rev. Soldier Monument by Blount DAR Chapter.
(2)Wyly Family Cemetery: Located on the old James Wyly farm now taken over by TVA in the Tellico Basin. Grave site above water line on a hill but not easily seen. There are 15 graves marked only with field stones.

Mecklenburg Co, NC and while still young he was moved to Montgomery Co, VA some 12 miles from
the lead mines on Cripple Creek which was later in Wythe Co, VA & soldier lived in said Montgomery
Co, VA when he enlisted and about 7 years after the Rev he moved to Washington Co, NC then moved
to Franklin Co, GA then moved to Blount Co, TN where soldier lived when he appl 26 Mar 18323, sol
had m 6 Jul 1784 (wife's name not given) & after her death (date not given) sol m 2nd to Mary
Whitenberger on 15 Jan 1828 in Blount Co, TN, sold d. 12 Feb 1851 & his wid applied 23 Feb 1853 in
Blount Co, TN aged 52 & she was living there in 1865 , in 1854 one BFL Wyly aged 20 was of Blount
Co, TN, in 1855 a Martha Wyly was of Blount Co, TN & in 1865 one John C. Wyly was of Blount Co,
TN (the relationship to these people to sol's family was not stated), sol had stated his sis Margaret Wyly
was married to James Hall about 1782.

……3 Jackson Randolph WYLY was born on 24 May 1832 and died on 24 May 1851. He married (1)Mary HOOVER. He married (2)Unknown STEPHENS.

……3 John Calhoun WYLY was born on 13 February 1836. He married Mary Ann DAWSON on 17 September 1856 in Blount County, Tennessee. She was born about 1837.

……3 Felix Grundy WYLY was born on 21 June 1838 and died on 5 August 1851.

…2 Robert WYLY Esq. was born about 1767 in Mecklenburg Councy, North Carolina. He died before 25 April 1809 in Greene County, Tennessee. He married Dorcas BALCH on 5 September 1797. She was daughter of Ann UNKNOWN.,

NOTE: He moved with his mother and her second husband David Miller to TN about 1781.  They moved to Monroe County, TN about 1829.

After death of James Wyly in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. His widow Martha Isabella HARRIS WYLY married (2)David MILLER in Wythe County, Virginia.  He  died in March 1819 in Blount County, Tennessee.

NOTE: In 1791, Greene County, Tennessee David Miller records a deed of gift to daughter Margaret Hall also naming Margret's youngest son, John Hall. Signing as witnesses are Isaac Taylor (husband of one of Samuel Sherrill, Sr.'s daughters) and Rebecha Sherrill.

Mar 1816 and that her husband died 22 Nov 1810.
