These web sites offer the best on the Net:
- Enjoying "Macbeth" by William
Shakespeare.
This is a fun site, even though the warning right at the beginning of the page says that it's "nasty." Ed Friedlander, M.D., adds a wry personal touch to his exploration of Macbeth. You'll get lots of good information here, from unflinching clinical details about human decomposition in his plot summary, frank opinions about historical revision, to notes on the third murderer and the Macbeth curse, and useful advice dropped along the way on how to approach the play. You can even view the tartans of some of the Macbeth characters' historical counterparts. - Macbeth Navigator: Preview Edition.
A new hypertext study guide of the play. Includes scene summaries, character reviews (with a separate section on Macbeth), and themes and motifs. The only drawback with this preview edition is that you only get material contained in the first two acts of Macbeth. You can, however, buy a subscription to the full edition at a small fee.
