Facts about the Pearly Crescent Spot Butterfly
Pearly Crescent is common throughout most of the United States, except the Northwest and extreme Southwest. It is usually on the wing from spring to fall and can be seen most of the summer. This species is known to dart out after objects large and small. The males are active mud-puddlers. Its a low flier and loves to bask in the sun. The larvae feed on various species of aster. Their favorite nectar plants are thistle, aster, and gloriosa daisy.
