History
In the year 2023, Earth was struck with a plague. A desease that targeted human D.N.A., unraveling it and tearing it apart. All modern medications failed to scratch the surface of the microscopic monster, as the desease was seemingly unbound by the laws of medicine. Attempts to slow its spread were unsuccessful; the desease leaped from continent to continent, wiping out a third of the human population in just a year.  Desperate times called for desperate messures. German scientists, after the United Nations' ban on human genetic alteration and manipulation, designed several new strains of human D.N.A.  Japanese technology companies made replacement organs and implants to combat the ailment. In the remains of abandoned Salt Lake City Utah, a single boy, the sole survivor of the outbreak in the city, was found with an unknown energy property running through his veins, soon dubbed "magic."
Upon the German government's discovery of the genetic tampering, the scientist was immediately silenced. What they didn't know was that he had already tested the new strands of D.N.A. on his daughters.
After 109 years humanity has had time to rebuild and is at its former population. Strangely, the plague turned out to be as much of a blessing as a disaster; a boom in technology has seized the planet like never before. Underwater resorts dot the oceans, comercial trips to space are as common-place as airlines and 50 space stations representing different governments and private companies orbit Earth.
