The Happy King
There was once a Happy King in a town full of sad people. The King was the only happy person in the whole town! There was another person who wasn't sad, though. It was the Mad Man. One day the Mad Man went to the Happy King. "You shouldn't be so happy." he said. The King didn't listen. "Why not?" it asked. "I like being happy." The Mad Man laughed. "Well, thats what YOU think!" he said. "Its better to be mad! Then everybody will obey you!" The King thought it over. "Hmm... I don't know. Maybe. I'll think about it." The Man laughed. "Okay! You'll see that I'm right! You'll be like a real king if you act like me!" The Man left. The King went into a room and locked the door. Meanwhile, the Man was telling everybody in the town about the King. "He is going to be mean like me!" he was saying. "Then all of you will want to be mean! You will be just like the King!" The people ran to the King. "Are you going to be mean?" they asked him. The King laughed. "Of course not!" he said. "But why are all of you so sad?" The people looked at each other and then they said, "We don't have any food, and our children are hungry!" The King brought the people and their children inside his castle. He made a feast for them. Then they all went and kicked the Mad Man out of the city. It became the town of Happy People, after that.
