In My Heart I have Hidden |
With all my heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commands. In my heart I treasure your promise, that I do not sin against you. Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your laws. With my lips I recite all the justice you have spoken. I find joy in the way of your decrees more than in all riches. I will ponder your precepts and consider your paths. In your laws I take delight; I will never forget your word. Be kind to your servant that I may live, that I may keep your word. Open my eyes to see clearly the wonders of your teachings. I am a sojourner on this earth; do not hide your commands from me. At all times my soul is stirred with longing for your edicts. With a curse you rebuke the proud who stray from your commands. Free me from disgrace and contempt, for I observe your decrees. Though princes meet and talk against me, your servant studies your laws. Your decrees are my delight; they are my counselors. What is the promise that is spoken of in verse 11?
Paul describes it best in Galatians. We have always read plurality into specific words of the covenant; and that this covenant is exclusive to Israel. After the revelation in Paul's interpretation of the covenant, I invite you to study these references of the covenant from the original Hebrew and a Strong's dictionary of Hebrew words (see bookstore if you do not have these resources):
Ge 12:3: families of the soil (adamah meaning the entire population of the world, not eretz, which would mean the population of the Land) shall be blessed. Ge 12:7 2233/zerah; (singular or plural) child – to give what you wish for Ge 13:15-16 2233/zerah; posterity compared to the Land (eretz) Ge 15:5 2233/zerah; (singular or plural) posterity compared to the heavens Ge 17:6-8 4428/mehlek; a king (not kings, which is Mehlekim) will come from Abraham who will wash away the judgement
In Galatians 3:2-16, Paul considers how the Father built the Promise between Genesis 12:3 and Genesis 17:8 which he made to Abraham. He acknowledges that included in the promise is the national status of His people in the Land. However, he points out that the national status is merely an ingredient of the promise, yet not the goal! The crux of the promise is the Descendant that will come through Abraham who will be the King of kings. The One who will bring all the others who trust in the promise before the Father... and into a state where they may remain with the Father. THE PROMISE IS A GIFT received from the One, by trust in this One who can accomplish our justification that allows us to exist in the eternal presence of the Father and through no practice, behavior or act on our part.
The only way to claim this gift is to surrender all to this One and to be rebuilt by the Holy Spirit that he left with us. |
