I've always loved art and music, tho my tastes have changed dramatically thru the years. It probably started with papier maché masks, clay pots, and clarinet lessons in the 4th grade. In high school, it was the band... Friday night half-time shows with the marching band... and blue ribbons at state art competitions and county fairs. My very first album, purchased with my allowance and money earned by babysitting for 25 cents an hour, was Peter, Paul, and Mary. When the trio performed at Monmouth College (Illinois), I walked the short two blocks to the college gymnasium and sat in awe thru my first major live performance. There were times when only the Stones and The Doors resounded from my poster-art-filled room. Later it was John Mayall and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Grace Slick.... Janice Joplin... Jimi Hendrix... Iron Butterfly... At the same time, I became fascinated with album cover art... often buying the album for the cover alone. (ok... I admit it... I still buy wines for the unique graphics on the label.) Living near San Francisco in the early '70's definitely put me in touch with music. Remember the Fillmore? Bill Graham gave us a culture all our own. Pop art, op art... Peter Max... Robert Crumb and Mr. Natural... tie-dye... wearable art. Tho boxes of vinyl still reside in my garage, we've moved on to CDs now... and I've moved on to a different type of music. Now... it's all for the love of jazz. It's the "passion" in jazz that attracts me. It's music that is not only heard... but is felt. The first time I heard Gato Barbieri's "Europa"... I was hooked. Later I discovered another incredible talent who plays from the depths of his soul... Warren Hill. There's no more passionate sound than a wailing sax! |

When I'm not listening to jazz or sitting at my computer, you're likely to find me with a camera in my hands. Sometimes it's the big picture that catches my eye... or it might be something so tiny as this shell.

Smooth
Jazz has become my signature sound. Being
a hopeless romantic at heart, it isn't surprising. Music plays in my
life from my waking moment until long past the time my eyes close on
another day.
