NOBLE Family Page

Robert and Annie Noble, (married 1910)

These pages have been produced to enable greater access to the "frail" Family Bible, also with the Bible are various family mementoes these are also included in these transcriptions. There are also some Certificates that belong with the bible you will find links to these at the foot of the page.

is this the likeness of William Noble b 1856?I have transcribed some pages from our noble family bible. Also with the bibile are collections of photos, certificates etc. that relate to various members of the family. This photo, scanned from a metal plate photo, (there is a proper term but I’ll look it up later) I am not sure who it is I think it may be of William Noble, my Great Great Grand father, born in York, 1856. There is also another plate, which I guess was taken at the same time, is assume it to be a picture of his wife, Eliza Emma (nee Henstridge). I do know that they married in London, 1882. Can any one out there shed any light on who is really in the photo?, or how old it is?

I have been able to trace my Noble family line back until about 1800. The family seems to have come from the village of Cottingham near Hull, East Yorkshire. Although some members of the family were non-conformists some were buried in the parish churchyard. I have been able to make contact with my 6th cousins through this family link with the Hull area. Since the Noble's left Cottingham they moved to York. I have very little information on the family living in York except what has been recorded in the Family Bible.

Research results!!!- last year I wrote-:

I do have a small article about one of the family members, Charles Noble (b1858) who worked on improving the railway signals. The article was printed in the "Railway Review", he is supposed to written articles regularly for the paper. Does any one have any information on this newspaper??

After some research on the internet I found where a copy of the article was kept :

CHARLES NOBLE : A POPULAR SIGNALMAN

Via this link you will be able to access an article on Charles Noble, a Signalman and early trade unionist.

The article was found in our family bible and I had to find another copy because the article was very damaged, so much so that the bottom paragraphs were actually unreadable. It was originally published in the January 1906 issue of the "RAILWAY REVIEW" (the railway review was a trade union magazine).

Special thanks to the Warwick Modern records library for corresponding with me and supplying the transcript of the article.
