Welcome to the Willola Beach Property Owner's Association website. This site is dedicated to providing the residents of Willola Beach (and the surrounding neighbourhood) information which is relevant to our daily lives.
As many of you are aware, life on the beach is turning 'rocky' as the Ottawa River Project, in conjunction with the Ontario Power Group (Hydro) and the City of Ottawa, wish to invade our quiet community with a 'Dam Bypass'. The bypass, which will be used to circumvent the Chats Falls Dam, has been reviewed by the 'experts' and a perferred route has been choosen. The downstream location of bypass is at the end of Willola Beach road. The actual engineering details of the structure which is going to be built is not yet published but the consultants have eluded that it will be similar to the bypass built up-river at Desjardinville.
The community is gearing up to stop this invasion. Environmental impact (silting, weeding in, mosquitos, habitat, etc), wasting taxpayers dollars (City of Ottawa is using $350K), and neighbourhood safety (traffic, parking, children) will be our weapons. The following events have been or are scheduled to battle the proponents so our current way of life is not changed forever. |

A 'request for information' to obtain the technical study of the project with projected revenues and expenditures has been denied. This again questions the integrity of the process. |
