Very good historical info . I am searching for information about shaman or medicine man headdress which was kinda like a tepee shaped thing with a feather on the side and a five pointed plant with leaves pointing downward and a small marble like fruit in he center. Ever heard of anything like it? Perhaps the fruit or plant is meaningful. I know the feather is. kThanks

Your site was very informative. I have Seneca blood in me, so i enjoyed your large information selection of the Iroquois tribe. I had not known of George Washington's treachery. I had only known that we had aided him during his stay at Valley Forge. May t e Eagle watch over you!

I found your website to be very interesting. I would like to know how do one began founding their ancestry without no trace of proving documentation of tribal affliation. My family has 3 tribes blackfeet, shinnecock, cherokee. I have my family last names but do not know how connected to the tribal community.

Thanks for all the interesting information on the Native American culture. I found the info. on the "Trail of Tears" very thorough. I am working on a presentation for a graduate class. It is a group project and I needed to find historical info. on the orced removal of Native Americans from their lands. I am also responsible for discussing the impact of racism on the culture. I did not see anything related to that. That type of info. is extremely important especially for young students looking up inf . for class papers and such.

I wanted to ask your help in locating information concerning the patterns that the Native Americans used in their daily lives. I am not sure where to look, also I am not sure that I have thought of the various ways the Native Americans used patterns. I elieve patterns were used on their clothing, lodgings, and horses. Were there any other items on which the Native Americans would have designed a pattern? I would appreciate your help if you could point me in the right direction. I thank you for you he p. Dale

Your website really helped me with my homework in Social Studies. We have been learning about Indians around the USA. It was a crossword and it is hard! Some of the clues are like, southwestern indians! Because of your site I have only 18 more clues to do Thank you. Maybe you can add some things to the site though. Like about peace pipes and the Aztec, Maya, and Inca indians. Danielle

Hi, I am doing presentation for Nationalv American Indian History Month on Coast Guard Cutters that have been named for Native American tribes. In our list of cutters (www.uscg.mil/hq/g-cp/history/CutterList.html) I counted 55 that have been named for Nat ve American Tribes. I think that there are probaly more, but I have to admit that I don't know a NAtive American tribe name from a Native American word. Over the years the Coast Guard has many cutters named for Native Americans, including a whole class f cutters. I was wondering if you could give me a little help. Thanks

I am a technology assistant in an elementary school where 5th graders learn about Native Americans and US history. I have been asked to try to find the legend/story about the "madstone". It was supposedly used in the treatment of rabies or to prevent ra ies. I have found references to the "madstone" but not the legend or exactly what the "madstone" is. Please let me know if you have any information about the "madstone". Your website is great! Thanks in advance for your help. Vickie

Interested in Pueblo Indian and had no idea there were so many different types. I don't have time to read more (it's kind of late where I am) but will put your web site (really nice!) in my "favorites" file. I was told once by someone who was helping me contact my Mother on the other side that I had been a Native American medicine woman for more than one lifetime. My sister, who lives in Hawaii, talked to someone over there who told her that medicine women were rare, however, most were from a Pueblo tri e. I have always been drawn to Native American pictures, stories, and beliefs about Mother Earth. So there, you have my brief story. Again, thanks for a wonderful and big web site. Beverly

I visited your website today, and I must say this is overwhelming. My great-grandmother was Papago indian and born on a reservation in Mariposa, AZ. She past away a few years ago, and it's become extremely difficult to retrieve any information regarding our tribe. I know the facts: where the tribe originated and what other tribes we are closely related to. I am always searching for some history, stories, traditions, well amost anything I could get by hands on to pass on to my family. If you can be of ny help to me and family, we would deeply appreciate it. I'vee been planning a trip to Arizona to seek information from the reservation, but I don't know where to start. I hope to hear from you soon. Till then, thank you.
