Diary Entry of a Street Politician
by Aaron Johnson
There are two laws
laws of the city
and laws of the ghetto,
concealing a firearm is a felony
so I resort to guerilla tactics with my stilleto.
not heavy metal,
and not for those who reside in the meadow,
politics from the streets
strictly for the street rebels.
Amerikkka makes laws against murder
but then there is the electric chair,
supposed to be the land of the free
but can't get a job if I don't cut my hair.
being politically correct
seems to be the 90's theme,
but just as any other politician
you don't say what you mean.
but the politics of the streets
dictate that the truth be told,
not about how great amerikkka is
or how the founding fathers were so bold.
republicans are not trying to alleviate the violence
on these streets that I roam,
freedom is vacation
oppression is home.
democrats act like rats,
when they hear our thoughts on wax,
they would rather hear us talkin' bout killin' ourselves
than to hear us kick some facts.
Street politics
get wit' it
if you can dig it
we talk about issues from
how police departments are so wicked
to
how congress' universal heart is so frigid
open your eyes wide
oppression's weight is on our shoulders
so join the Black caucus'
revolutionary street soldiers.
