John Winters and Elizabeth Longwell = Silas Winters and Elizabeth Pricilla Miller = Charles Winters and Ella Edith O'Hare = Orville Winters and Gladys Annabell Gorham |
Charles Edgar Winters Born September 14, 1867 Port Hope Township, Durham County, Ontario Died August 23, 1936 Port Alberni, British Columbia Married June 21, 1893, Muskoka District, Ontario to: Ella Edith O'Hare Born January 14, 1873 Owen Sound, Ontario Died July 13, 1930 North Bay, Ontario I first found Charles in the 1881 Census records of Port Hope Township, Durham County where he was living with his father Silas and Step-mother Ellen Amelia Pomeroy. This family was fairly easy to track as it appeared to follow my branch of this tree. I next found Silas and his family living in Orillia, Ontario where my grt-grandfather John Wesley Winters and two of his brothers had settled. He was a member of quite a large family and after getting married to Ella Edith O'Hare went on to have a big family of his own! Ellen was the daughter of John O'Hare and Mary Jane Daniels. Researching this tree I happened across Charles death certificate when I was doing some research at the Cloverdale Library here in British Columbia. Though Silas and his third wife Louisa Hawkins along with several other members of this tree had moved to British Columbia I was still surprised to find that he had passed away here as well. Both Ella and Charles are buried in North Bay, Ontario. I have been able to document that they had the following children: Orville (aka Brille), Charles,Irene, Gladys, Vera, Mona, Edna, Beth, Cecil, Phyllis, Grace. There may have been more that I have not found but I will continue to look. |
Vera married on June 6, 1923 to Wilfred James McDonald. |
Orville was married July 8, 1920 to Emily Burns Gorham |
Irene was married June 18, 1924 to Frederick Farmer |
