When my husband's grandfather died, they asked, what do you want? There was no question or hesitancy. The Photographs. While going through boxes of them, I found these. They were taken by Ernest Anthony Yates, who was many things.. a family man, a seaman in the merchant marine, a wood worker and a photographer. His travels took him all over the world in the years between the thirties and the sixties. Some photos are aboard ship and some are the places he saw. These were never meant to remain in the darkness of a cardboard box. I brought them out... I did not know the power of them until I started looking up the names of the places written on them. I saw Japan before WWII, Saigon while it still hailed from Indo China, The capital city of The Dominican Republic when it was run by a dictator who massacred..... I have been many places through these photographs and I have learned. Thank you, Ernest. Love, moon_grace. ~*~*~*~*~ There are two pages that are not his photographs. They are The Edmund Fitzgerald and Horatio Spafford. I could not leave them off. moon_grace |
