Why not? Seriously, though, it should be clear that penguins are the master race. The evidence is everywhere. Penguins are everywhere. They've featured in all four major art forms (films, novels, sculpture and Far Side cartoons). They can drive. They own a publishing company. Even Netscape likes them (that's where I found the penguins who grace the heading). Worship them now and avoid the rush.

Some people mistakenly believe that the Big Penguin (BP) is a term used to describe high-ranking people, like Big Cheese or Big Tamale. These people couldn't be further from the truth.
The Big Penguin is a ferro-concrete monument to penguinhood. It can be found in Penguin, Tasmania. It was errected in 1975 to celebrate the centenary of the town. It is three metres high. (Thanks to Annette Fraser for this information).
The Big Penguin is the embodiment of Penguininity.
Yes, it's true. There is a town named Penguin. From The Macquarie Dictionary of People and Places:
Penguin a coastal town in northern Tasmania, west of Ulverstone; pig-raising and timber-milling. Pop. 2801 (1986)Its primary claim to fame is to being the home of the Big Penguin. Its secondary claim to fame is that the artist Tom Roberts stayed there during his honeymoon.
The Penguin High School is on the web, and provides a photo tour of the school and Penguin itself, including a large and gloriously full colour image of the BP and its surrounds.
Alternatively, you may visit the Penguin town page, part of the intractive tour of Tasmania.
The Big Penguin Appreciation Society (BPAS) was founded in 1995 by Todd Winks and Annette Fraser.
The BPAS is dedicated to the veneration of penguins everywhere, and in particular the Big Penugin.
Further information is available about Ms Fraser. There is no further information about Todd Winks. In fact, what you thought was Todd Winks has been conclusively proven to be the planet Venus.
There are two awards that you might be thinking of here. The first, and far more prestigious :-), is the Petrified Penguin. This is awarded on an irregular basis to people who have posted to aus.tv.x-files. It looks something like this:
The second is awarded annually by the Television Society of Australia for excellence in broadcasting. The trophy depicts an ear listening to a TV set, but apparently has the appearance of a penguin. It looks nothing like a Petrified Penguin.
