Excellence are from Sweden, the home of pop music! They are, like most other popstars bands (if you haven't already noticed!), five girls. Maybe it's because there are a lot of good songwriters in Sweden, but Excellence have one of the best Popstars songs. The show was a real 'Popstars' show, I think, and it was broadcast on a Swedish TV channel called Kanal 5. Excellence has done fairly well in Sweden, having had at least two top ten singles so far.

The Band

As I already said, the band is made up of five girls, and their names are apparently Anna, Jenny, Johanna, Malin and Susanna. I say 'apparently' because there appears to be some dispute about this! When searching for information on Excellence (which is another not terribly well chosen band name!), I was led to believe at first that their names were Iza, Jay, Jojo, Cat and Suzie Q. Those names sounded a bit too silly to be believable! I suppose they are nicknames, but I really don't know how they got 'Iza' from 'Anna', and 'Cat' from 'Malin'! It all seems a bit bizarre to me. Anyway, I don't know a whole lot about the girls (this is becoming a familiar story! **g**), but it sounds like they can sing okay. Malin reminds me of someone's mother though, just by the way she looks, because she seems a lot older than she is supposed to be! But anyway, I quite like Excellence.

The Music

Excellence's first single is a really good song. Along with 'Get over yourself' by Eden's Crush, 'Need to know' is one of the best Popstars songs I've heard. It's just a really catchy pop song, basically! It sounds good, even though the title (which is really 'Need to know (eenie meenie miny mo)' is misleading, in that it sounds totally stupid... The song actually does go like that, but yet it is good... You'll have to download it yourself to find out how that works! **g** I think Excellence also have another single or two. Apparently the singles are called 'Lose it all', 'What's up', 'We can dance', and 'Last to know'. I haven't heard them, apart from 'What's up'. It's not a bad song… Not as good as the first single, but it's pretty good, and kinda catchy!
