K-otic are the Popstars from the Netherlands. The show they appeared on was not an official Popstars series show, but was a show called 'Starmaker'. It is actually quite different from Popstars! Apparently all of the contestants went into something like the Big Brother house, and viewers were able to vote for the housemates every week. Eventually the band was chosen, but the voting didn't stop there! Even though the band K-otic was chosen already and began to release songs, the voting continued, and in the end, Sita was chosen as the winner, and so she left Starmaker. This band caused me the most problems when researching! For months, I thought that the band was called Starmaker and had about 13 members, but luckily I was wrong! Well, K-otic and its various members have had a couple of good songs out , and I think they'd achieve some success in other countries if they released their music outside of the Netherlands.
The Band
After I finally discovered that the band wasn't actually called Starmaker (thanks to
www.mp3hitlist.net, a great mp3 site, I might add!), I managed to find out a bit about them. If you're interested, the Starmaker show's theme song is 'Miracles' by Jessica Folcker, and it's a great song! But back to K-otic. Their names are Bart, Anna, Rachel, Bouchra, Martijn, Stefan & Sita. They are all quite young, which is fairly common in the music industry these days. The whole Starmaker show concept is a bit difficult to understand if you haven't seen it, I think! I want to thank Lisa for telling me a bit about K-otic, because I would have had no idea what was going on otherwise! The following picture is of Sita, and I got it myself from Hitkrant magazine in the Netherlands! **g** I will include her in the K-otic section for now! Sita has now left K-otic. This wasn’t intended at first, but apparently she was too busy with her solo career to continue in the band as well. But it seems that she is really popular, and is doing well! J
The Music
I think the band members can sing okay. Their debut single was called 'Damn I think I love you', and it's really a pretty good song. Definitely one of the best Popstars songs. It starts off with some music that sounds like they're out in the wild west or something! But it has a pretty good chorus, and it's a good song. Anyway, K-otic have also released another single, but only Bart and Sita sing on it. It's called 'I was made to love you' and is a typical slow, romantic sort of song. It's quite a nice song. I think K-otic have more songs because they have an album out now, and I wouldn't mind hearing them. They sung the original version of 'I really don't think so', now sung by Scene 23, but I have to say that Scene 23's version is better! Sita's new single is called 'Hello', and it is a really good song! It's a bit more accoustic and a slightly different style than K-otic's music. I really like it, though! J She also has an album out called 'Happy'.
