Lollipop are the Italian Popstars. It's difficult to find information on Popstars bands, particularly those who are from non-English speaking countries, as most of the information on them is in other languages. One interesting thing I've noticed is that most of the Popstars bands that I know of sing in English. I guess it's mostly because English is becoming the global language, and because it might help the bands to achieve success overseas. The Band Lollipop is again made up of five girls: Marta Falcone (born 1976), Roberta Ruiu (born 1981), Veronica Rubino (born 1981), Marcella Ovani (born1982), and Dominique Fidanza (born 1979). They all look almost exactly the same to me, but they are all beautiful. This makes me doubt their talent, and after listening to their songs, I get the feeling that they were chosen more for their looks than anything else. I really don't know much about them at all. I have no idea how popular the Popstars show in Italy has been, but it seems that Lollipop have had a fair bit of success so far! The Music I was unaware of the a few of the singles that Lollipop had released, and after hearing all 4 of them, I really have to change my mind about their music! This is what I previously wrote about it: "I think the first single is a song called 'Down, down down'. As you might expect, this is not a particularly good song! Well, it's not terrible, and I've definitely heard worse songs. But it's just a general pop song, and one that doesn't work out terribly well for the girls. It's just okay. It sounds half-finished, and I don't know if it really suits their style. The girls all look very stylish and sophisticated, but the B-grade teenybopper songs that they sing are really a bit beneath them, I would have thought! Another song of theirs that I have heard is called something like 'Everybody come on (wanna be a popstar)'. And yes, it really is as bad as the title would suggest! I wonder if Lollipop have other songs... I'm sure they can do better than what they're currently doing, so I hope to hear better music from them in the future."
After visiting their official site, I discovered that the girls have released 4 singles and two albums. The singles are 'Down, down, down', 'When the rain', 'Don't leave me now', and 'Batte forte'. And with the exception of 'Down, down, down', they are all really nice songs! 'When the rain' is a really nice and fairly slow & soft song. 'Don't leave me now' is similar. These songs aren't too slow and are still kinda upbeat, but they are more…'sweet' than a lot of other pop songs I can think of! They are really nice songs! 'Batte forte' is a bit more upbeat, perhaps, and it's in Italian rather than English. But it's also good!
