Tatu are three girls who auditioned for the first Australian series of Popstars, but didn't make it into the final band. They are Dorothy, Natalie and Cara, and I think they are really pretty talented. They formed a band called Tatu, and the name apparently means 'three' in an African language. I'm not sure which one, but Dorothy is from Kenya, I think. They were signed to Mushroom Records, but unfortunately they weren't successful with their first single, and I don't think the band exists anymore. Apparently Dorothy auditioned for the second series of Popstars too, but didn't get in again.

The Music

Tatu released a single called 'Imperfect girl'. And it was a great song! Much better than anything Bardot ever sang. It was a fairly slow song, and it was really nice. You might still be able to download it somewhere, actually. I have the mp3 myself. It's sad that this band weren't successful, because they really deserved to be. They had talent, and a good song, but it seems that that's not what people are looking for in the music industry anymore! It's often been said that because Popstars bands receive so much more media attention than the bands formed by those who didn't make it, and Popstars bands always do a lot better. However, while it seems that those who did make it into the final band should be more talented than those who didn't, this might not always be the case. After all, they were only chosen by people with questionable credentials, so who's to say that they chose the right people?
